"If I Were Mayor" 2016-17 OMA Student Contest

Fairview Mayor Ted Tosterud wants to know what students would do for their city if they were Mayor. The winners of the Fairview contest will be recognized at the televised May 3, 2017 City Council meeting, and advance to the statewide competition. The Oregon Mayor’s Association (OMA) is sponsoring the annual statewide “If I were Mayor, I Would…” contest.

The contest consists of three categories:
  • poster entries for students in grades 4-5;
  • essay entries for students in middle school;, and
  • digital media presentation entries for high school students.

A local winner will be selected for each of the three categories. The submission deadline for Fairview's local contest is April 14, 2017. The winners of the local contest will advance to the statewide competition. The statewide winners in each category will receive an Apple iPad Air 2 tablet at the OMA Annual Conference July 27-29, 2017.
