A Message From Chief Smith

Independence Day is coming! (I mean our nation’s birthday, not the incredibly awesome summer blockbuster where aliens get their comeuppance by Will Smith.) With July 4 comes the celebrations we all enjoy. This Independence Day, please celebrate responsibly by ensuring that you and your friends and family do not drink and drive. Also, we know people like to have a great evening show of fireworks. Please follow Oregon’s fireworks laws and celebrate lawfully and safely. MCSO Deputies will be looking for fireworks that imminently endanger people or properties.

Also with summer celebrations you may get to enjoy a vacation away from your home in Fairview. If that is the case, you may utilize for free MCSO’s Vacation House Checks. Please go on-line to https://www.mcso.us/site/faq.php and select the “Other” tab where you can download the Vacation House Check form. When using this service, an MCSO Deputy will check up on your house while you are gone and make sure everything is ok.

MCSO is continuing to see a slew of attempted fraud via emails and spam phone calls. Please remember that MCSO does not solicit money for arrest warrants, missed jury duty, or unpaid traffic/parking tickets by phone. Do not give your personal/financial information to someone posing on the phone as an MCSO deputy who asks for money, gift cards, or other items of value. If you have a question about the validity of a call, please call 503-988-7300 and ask to speak with a Patrol Deputy. We NEVER ask for money over the phone.

This summer, be sure to take some time out to have some fun with your neighbors. It is a great time to get to know them over a hot dog or cold glass of lemonade. Remember to stay safe out there!
